Promote Courage, Ease Grief

Our Values

  • noun, willingness to tolerate a difficult or unpleasant situation

Valuing acceptance is what brought Aventurine to life. Grief is a daily part of life, with frequent small grief and less frequent overwhelming grief. When we stop fighting our grief and accept it, processing trauma and pain can begin.

  • noun, strength in the face of pain or grief

Courage is as much a noun that can be possessed as well as an action that we chose to participate in. At Aventurine, we know that whatever pain or grief you are facing, you possess the courage to face it. We just provide the tools to find it within you and the encouragement to participate in it.

  • verb, the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experiences of another

Most of our trauma occurs within relationships, but we have the greatest capacity for healing through healthy relationships. Empathy promotes connection. Connection is a core human need, and healthy connection is what heals. At Aventurine, empathy is not negotiable. We strive to always practice empathy for ourselves and our clients because that is what connects us to each other.

  • noun, the state or fact of existing, occurring, or being present in a place or thing

In a society that feels ill-equipped to deal with pain and grief, we find ways to bury, ignore, and distract from it. Acceptance requires slowing down long enough to acknowledge and experience our grief. Presence is how we begin to achieve our other values of acceptance, courage, and empathy.

Mission Statement

Aventurine Therapy Group Exists…

Yet most feel ill-equipped to move through any part of it. We want to empower our clients to understand their grief and aid in processing it.

because grief is a cornerstone of the human experience…

in whatever form That Grief exists...

How Do we Accomplish This?

My own therapy journey taught me that grief isn't reserved for death. While discussing the trauma of a parent's alcoholism, my therapist wisely noted that in some relationships, we are "continually grieving things"—the loss of dreams, of safety, and of a life we expected.

Grief is how we process a reality that doesn't match the ideal. It isn't a checklist to be completed, but a process of accepting our emotions. In that acceptance, we find relief.

Our mission is to empower you for this process. While grief is a universal experience, feeling equipped for it is not. Together, we will work to understand your unique story and process its emotions, so you no longer have to feel lost.

Who Does Erin Work with?

Erin specializes in working with individuals navigating specific, often unseen, forms of grief and trauma. Her areas of focus include:

  • Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOAs) processing the complex trauma of growing up in an alcoholic home.

  • Clients managing the physical and emotional complexities of a chronic illness.

  • Those deconstructing their faith and/or healing from religious trauma.

The clients who find the most success in this work are feeling stuck and are ready to be present with themselves. They value therapy not just for crisis stabilization, but as a path to lasting health for themselves and their relationships.

Aventurine Therapy Group is a safe and inclusive practice. We welcome and affirm clients of all races, gender identities, sexual orientations, and backgrounds. We are currently serving anyone residing in the state of Tennessee.

Individual Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a specialized trauma therapy that Erin is trained in that helps clients in processing traumatic experiences and distressing memories. Using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, EMDR reduces the emotional charge of memories, allowing clients to reprocess their experiences safely. This therapy is effective for those feeling trapped by past traumas, fostering healing, resilience, and emotional freedom.

EMDR Therapy

Aventurine Therapy Group offers group therapy sessions designed to foster collective healing and connection among individuals navigating various forms of grief. These sessions provide a supportive environment where participants can share their experiences, learn from others, and develop a deeper understanding of their emotional journey. more
